Following on from her debut Saturday Night Live hosting gig last month, Jenna Ortega took to her Instagram yesterday to share behind-the-scenes pictures of herself getting ready ahead of the show. The photos included a shot of the Wednesday actress with her hair and makeup artists applying the finishing touches, plus a mirror selfie of Jenna and her team.

As well as providing an inside peek at the backstage happenings, the snaps also gave us a chance to get an up-close look at her hosting 'fit. Sporting an all-black ensemble, the 20-year-old channeled her character, Wednesday Addams, and stuck to her goth-glam aesthetic that has become her signature since starring in the Netflix show.

The lewk in question consisted of a black see-through polka-dot top with a mock neck and long sleeves that featured thumb holes and was worn over Jenna's hands.

She layered a black tuxedo-style cape over the top, accessorising with a red flower on the lapel, and paired it with tiny black hotpant shorts and sheer tights. The transparent trend has been making its way round the style set, with everyone from Hailey Bieber to Heidi Klum, Emily Ratajkowski and Miley Cyrus, as well as Priyanka Chopra all giving it a go.

Having proved herself as something of a fashion lover, Jenna wasn't content with her outfit ticking off just one trend. On her feet, she wore the Valentino Tan-Go platform pumps in black. Not only are the heels *insanely* high, (seriously, they're 6.5 inches) but they quickly gained icon status after Anne Hathaway wore the bright pink version to the Valentino haute couture Autumn/Winter 2022-23 show in Rome. Dua Lipa, Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Vanessa Hudgens, and Emma Roberts have also been spotted in the shoes, so you know they're a cult item.

Here's a full-length shot of her full 'fit, captured during her SNL opening monologue:

We love a celeb re-wear moment, and Jenna has worn the Valentino platforms many times before, including during Paris Fashion Week last October and at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards. She revealed to Vogue the heels had actually been custom-made for her by the design house as her feet are so small. While the height makes us think they're potential ankle breakers, a custom-fitting shoe sounds like something out of Cinderella, so no wonder Jenna keeps wearing them.

We think it's no question, Wednesday Addams would surely approve and we can't wait to see what Jenna wears next.

Jenna Ortega has catapulted to mainstream popularity since the premiere of Netflix's "Wednesday." Don't believe us? Not only has she gained 10 million followers on Instagram in the span of a week, but inquiries about a lip color she wore on the show also rose on social media after the premiere — and, as a result, immediately sold out (it was MAC Cosmetics's Nightmoth Lip Pencil ($21), by the way). Let that be your proof of exactly how much people are obsessing over the actor.

Wednesday season 1’s flashbacks set up the perfect Addams Family spinoff series. However, Netflix is taking a new direction with the iconic franchise, as Tim Burton’s Wednesday breaks away from the family unit to focus on the coming-of-age story of the gothic Wednesday. Since Wednesday is a brilliant way to better explore individual members of the beloved macabre family, it’s likely that future spinoffs about different Addams characters will follow.

How A Morticia & Gomez Addams Spinoff Could Work

A Morticia and Gomez spinoff could be a continuation of Wednesday’s flashbacks to their time as Nevermore students, following their supernatural origins, Morticia’s reputation as the school’s queen bee, Gomez as the stud who Larissa Weems had a crush on, and their role in Garrett Gates’ 1990 death. Wednesday explains that Gomez and Morticia were even more in love with each other as teenagers, so The Addams Family could finally explore their love story and how they met at Nevermore.

Why The Addams Family Needs A Prequel Show

Throughout different decades, each Addams Family adaptation has taken place during the same era in the family’s history, so the franchise could use a refreshing change by going back to its origins.
